Fabrique en tissu

A few months ago, a friend and I hosted a felting workshop in celebration of a mutual friend's birthday. My friend was the decoy, and took the birthday girl out for a drive so everyone could arrive. Meanwhile, I set up the felting station. I had chosen to lead everyone in the crafting of a clutch purse. It was a surprise, and the birthday girl was delighted! She informed us, after we had finished our projects, that her plan that evening was to come home after the outing, and sew for herself a new clutch purse. I guess we read her mind!

It so happens that I was not in need of a new clutch purse, and so when it was time to use the scissors to give each felted piece some details, mine ended up looking a bit like a tissue box cover. I wasn't upset by this, but I didn't know where I was going to find tissues in a box just this size.

Just the other day, it dawned on me that I had some little flannel hankies that I had made a while back, and maybe if I . . . they would just . . . yes! They fit!

I added some buttons and elastic to close the lower opening.

And the best part is, when I pull one out, it pulls up the next one, just like real tissues!

  1. That is much cuter than my candybox solution! I have a new gift idea - lucky me I have several hankie-loving friends.
